Morning everyone,
Here’s your quick 3-minute rundown of what’s actually happening locally this Bank Holiday weekend.
🚨 Local News & Council Updates
Community fuel support: Hamstead Hall Academy recently highlighted a fuel voucher scheme run by the charity 'Unity in Community'. They are offering support with gas and electricity costs for residents who use prepayment meters and haven't claimed from the charity in the past 12 months.
Bank Holiday bins: A quick heads-up for Sandwell residents—there are no changes to your bin collections this Bank Holiday Monday. Make sure you still put your bins out on your usual scheduled collection day.
Weekend weather: The long-range forecast for early May points to slightly below or close to average temperatures, with daytime maximums hovering around 16°C. Expect a mix of dry intervals and some showers, so prepare for typical mixed Bank Holiday weather.

Hamstead Road: Severn Trent works are scheduled this Sunday (May 3, 08:00–16:00). A road closure is permitted, so plan for potential diversions if you're driving through. The current two-way temporary lights near the library should finish up by Friday afternoon.

College Road (A453): Cadent Gas emergency repairs are ongoing near the Boar's Head/Perry Park. Lane restrictions are in place until late Tuesday (May 5).
Walsall Road (A34): Severn Trent has a lane closure in place this Friday (May 1) near Booths Farm Road until 17:00.
Next week — plan ahead:

Queslett Road: Resurfacing is planned near the Scott Arms junction next Thursday (May 7, 09:30–14:30). Expect a daytime closure.
